Proton Clarifies That Hokkien Federation Discount Not A Special Case
Last update: 18/01/2018

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Proton Holdings Bhd has clarified that its special discount for Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia members, which has raised eyebrows, is not a special case.

The offer is part of a special discount policy for corporate and fleet sales customers, and it is common business practice in the automotive industry to offer corporate sales discounts based on bulk purchase and fleet sales, the national automaker said in a statement today.

It was clarifying a Chinese daily report that Proton is offering discounts of between five and 10 per cent on its entire range of cars for members of Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia member guilds.

On the contrary, Proton said the special offer given to the Hokkien Federation formed part of the special corporate sales arrangement for fleet sales customers.

Proton would also wish to reiterate that the newspaper also reported that “Proton always provides corporate/fleets sales promotion to corporate customers, associations, organisations, and institution (including media), therefore, the Hokkien Federation is not the special case”.

It added that Proton have similar arrangements with various Malaysian cooperatives, associations, as well as major corporate organisations.

“In the same manner, the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia, approached us to discuss and show support to Proton with a commitment to purchase,” Proton said.

Based on the association’s large number of members and employees, Proton said it was able to customise a special package agreeable to both parties.

It said any cooperatives, organisations and associations that buy certain volume of cars are also entitled to this corporate sales special arrangement, subject to terms and conditions between Proton and the said parties.

“Proton highly values the support from these corporations and associations, and commit to provide the best services and quality to all our customers.

“We appreciate the interest on Proton and we invite any associations and corporations who would like to enjoy these benefits,” it said.

You should only use the hazard lights to warn
traffic that you've had to stop in some sort of emergency. Turning on the hazard lights and still driving on is dangerous. If more and more
motorists use their hazard lights when they
are still moving, those who use them when they actually stall would be in danger of being
knocked into by traffic behind them
